Vincent Van Gogh’s most famous painting, Starry Night, was painted while the famous Dutch post-impressionist artist was in the asylum at Saint Remy in 1889. It is said that he created this painting completely by memory. In the painting we see the city of Saint-Remy sitting beneath the swirling night sky full of bright stars.
